Vogue vs. Vogue

Glee's version of Vogue vs. Madonna's head to head on this video from youtube. This is from their second episode in the back 9 or the last 9 episode ending season one. (Don't worry fellow Gleeks! They will be back for a second season as confirmed by Fox network)

BTW, I already got the photos from my trips and random outfit pictures but I don't want to end this week on a Narcissistic mode.

Let's Play Favorites

I wanted to share a beautiful trailer from the movie I am Love which stars my favorite actress Tilda Swinton. I AM LOVE tells the story of the wealthy Recchi family, whose lives are undergoing sweeping changes. Eduardo Sr., the family patriarch, has decided to name a successor to the reigns of his massive industrial company, surprising everyone by splitting power between his son Tancredi, and grandson Edo. But Edo dreams of opening a restaurant with his friend Antonio, a handsome and talented chef.
At the heart of the family is Tancredi's wife Emma (Tilda Swinton), a Russian immigrant who has adopted the culture of Milan. An adoring and attentive mother, her existence is shocked to the core when she falls quickly and deeply in love with Edo's friend and partner Antonio, and embarks on a passionate love affair that will change her family forever.
Here is the video.
I wonder if this movie will be shown here in the Philippines, I can only hope.
For those who are not familiar with Tilda Swinton, she is a British actress known for her arthouse (indie) and mainstream films. She was the White Witch Jadis in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She had already won both an Oscar and a BAFTA for her performance as Karen Crowder in Michael Clayton. Incidentally, on the Oscar 2008, she wore very little makeup paired with her Lanvin gown (photo below). Another thing, she was the face of British clothing line Pringle of Scotland for their Spring Summer 2010 campaign (photo also shown below).

I am currently obsessed with her and this blog is dedicated to her. More pictures below....

Tip on the Tightrope

I wanted to post everyday this week but nothing really special is on my mind right now. I have some posts but the photos are not available yet. So in lieu of all excuses, here is a video from newcomer Janelle Monae, she is a 24 year old lady from Kansas City. Her music genres is soul, funk, some rock and roll and a little new wave.

The video below is her latest (I think...) for her song Tightrope which features Big Boi from Outkast. I enjoyed watching this because of the little details in it. Like the clear frames the nurse is rocking and the fact that almost everyone is wearing tuxedo with cropped pants, bowtie, and spectator shoes... Hmm, wonder if I'll ever be brave enough to wear that ensemble.

Hope you enjoy it.

Step on a Crack

I love reading books! Ever since I was younger, I would go into my school's dingy library and read whatever book they have on the shelf. During grade school, I was into Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Books, After that, I discovered R.L. Stine's Goosebumps and had collected quite a number on my own. Over high school, I was (and still sometimes) into Danielle Steel novels. College, my reading went into hiatus with all of the projects I need to pass but every now and then, I would be reading some thriller, from John Grisham or James Patterson, or a funny novel by Carl Hiaasen.

Anyway, I have not been reading recently... I had just finished re-shelving my books and that's when I saw a James Patterson book that I had not read yet. The book was given to me by my Aunt and I was probably busy when I received it and I just stashed it together with some of my old books.

The book in question was Step on a Crack. The story introduces a certain Michael Bennett, the father of ten (10!!!) children, all adopted having different races and nationalities. His wife is Maeve Bennett, a woman of grace yet is dying of cancer (spoiler: she died in the end...) Mr. Bennett or Mike, is a homicide detective and a former hostage negotiator, is the center of the story. It involves a death of a First Lady, kidnapping at the First Lady's funeral at St. Patrick church in Manhattan, and an undercover bad guy in the police force. Anyway, I suggest you guys read it before I go into the spoil all the details in it.

Note: I had read this book in a single day, I started during the morning, all through the work day at the office when no one is looking (ha! talk about a productive Monday), and before going to bed.

What to Wear When it's Raining

Burberry, a British fashion house, provided a video of their new collection in April Showers. This video showcases men's and women's outerwear, rain boots and accessories.

Although most of their items are so nice (the rain boots!), I would not be caught wearing white jeans when jumping in rain puddles when rain starts to pour in this side of the planet.

Check it out!

Missing: Alive Not Dead

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I have been very busy these past few weeks. The summer vacation has started here in the Philippines and there are numerous swim trips and such.

A couple of Saturdays ago, my office friends and I went to a swim trip in one of the small resorts in Bulacan. Sorry, I can't post pictures of that until I get their approval.

Then last week, I had been privileged enough to be a part of a Youth Camp for young people in our church community and below are some pictures from that.

This coming weekend will be a trip to a beach in Pangasinan. Hopefully I get to blog about that.

I also have a handful of blog post coming up about updating my watch, wearing griege and a book I might finish reading in a day. See you soon, promise

Date Night!

This post is long overdue but because of my busy schedule, (not!) I didn't have time to upload pictures. Anyway, I was privileged enough to get tickets to the Date Night premiere last April 8, 2010 (the movie is now being shown in theaters everywhere). Thanks to the people from 103.5MaxFM which gave me those tickets.

From the Date Night official movie website, the movie is about a suburban couple from New Jersey, Phil and Claire Foster. They have a weekly "date night" at a local steakhouse where they talk about work and make guesses on each couple's stories in the restaurant, but it is just as routine as everything else in their marriage. They learned during their book club that their best friends, Brad and Haley, are getting a divorce due to lame marriage routines, hoping each other will find someone else more exciting than themselves while still remain as friends; which mirrors Phil and Claire's marriage.

In an effort to reignite their romance, Phil takes Claire to a posh Manhattan restaurant where they can't get a table since they have no reservations. Phil decides to take the reservation of a no-show couple, the Tripplehorns, despite Claire's misgivings. During their meal they were led outside by two men questioning them about a stolen flash drive. This started their night of trying to run away from two men in a very slow boat, through Central Park, driving an Audi, and all other crazyness ending in a strip club. (spoiler much?)

Fronted by Steve Carell and Tina Fey, there were a lot of guest actors in the movie, a topless Mark Wahlberg, Taraji P. Henson, Kirsten Wiig (SNL), James Franco, Mila Kunis, and even Will.i.am was there.

It was one of the funnest movie I have watched this year. Plus the fact that I didn't pay for the tickets upped its fun factor.

I suggest that you guys go ahead, watch the movie and enjoy!

Building Up

LEGO® is a line of construction toys manufactured by the Lego group from Billund, Denmark. The toys were originally designed in the 1940s in Europe and have achieved international appeal.

I have always been fascinated with LEGO® blocks. Ever since I can remember, we have them at home and I would always be trying to build something out of it. A house, a weird creature or just put all of my blocks together. (BTW, doing this means I would have to pull the pieces apart which is a tad chore for my weak arms) Also, the fact that they come in mostly bright colors is a plus, too! Although I love building objects from my LEGO® blocks. I can't do the things I am posting below.

This piece of art is made by artist Nathan Sawaya, a successful lawyer until one day he decided to leave it all and make LEGO® models. Below are some of my favorites from his website: www.brickartist.com.

Another one is Galahad J of Hapsical, a student/fashion blogger from London. He creates LEGO pieces which he uses as accessories.

His LEGO bowtie looks amazing. Below are some if his DIY LEGO projects.

I may try to do the LEGO chain necklace this weekend, but I a LEGO pendant might be more attainable. More of that next time!

Stop, Look and Listen

I haven't posted anything lately. My pictures are not coming up right or I totally forget to take a picture of myself. So, in lieu of anything fashion-related. Here is a video I had watched eons ago and I saw it again today. It features stop-motion animation.

Stop-motion or stop-action is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. For this video, the object is a human being. The object is being moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence.

The artist whose music video appears above is an Israeli singer, songwriter, playwright and theater director. This video was nominated on this year's Grammy for "Best Short Form Music Video".

A blessed Lenten season to all of us!

1 John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God,
but that He loved us and sent His son
as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
